eight km from Bikaner is the Camel
Research Farm. Bikaner Excursion
tour must include this "one
of its kind" Camel Research
Farm. It is one of the camel research
and breeding centers in Asia.
Managed by the Central Government,
the farm extends over 2000 acres
of semi-parched land. The camels
raised in the farm are sold in
the Bikaner and Jaisalmer cattle
fairs. |

Gajner
Wildlife Sanctuary : |
| Situated 32 km
from Bikaner is the Gajner wildlife
sanctuary. Located on the Jaisalmer
road, the sanctuary houses a rich
wildlife consisting of Nilgai,
Chinkara, Black buck, Wild boar,
etc. |

Devi
Kund Sagar : |
| Situated approximately
8 km from Bikaner, Devi Kund Sagar
houses the royal crematorium.
It has several superb cenotaphs
belonging to the deceased members
of the ruling family of Bikaner.
The cenotaphs of the early rulers
were made of red sandstone, while
the later ones are made of marble.
The most remarkable cenotaph is
that of Maharaja Suraj Singh,
built in white marble. Some of
the cenotaphs are embellished
with Rajput painting on the ceiling. |

Katariasar
Village : |

45 km from Bikaner, on the Jaipur
road, is the Katariasar village.
The village provides a window
into the ethnic rural and cultural
life of Rajasthan. The village
has a rich wildlife around it,
consisting of Chinkara, Desert
fox, Rabbit, Peacock, Parrot,
Pat, etc. this village is also
famous for its fire dancers, performing
to the beat of drums on a bed
of burning coals. |
